Bayelsa State government has confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in the state.

The Chairman, Dr. Inodu Akpoku, Bayelsa COVID-19 Task Force implementation Committee, on Monday, confirmed this in a television interview.

Dr. Inodu Akpoku said that the state had prepared well to handle the situation.

The Chairman lamented that affected woman had been quarantined at the isolation centre located at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH), Okolobiri in Yenagoa.

He further disclose “We have recorded one case, a woman. She has been moved to the isolation centre.

Bayelsa Government is adequately prepared for this no need for panic said by the Bayelsa State Government .

Our isolation centres are well-equiped with trained medical professionals to tackle the pandemic in the state.

Bayelsa COVID-19 Task Force implementation Committee urged  Bayelsa residents to make use of face masks and observe precautionary measure as directed by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
