Simon Ekpa, the PM of The Indigenous People of Biafra In Exile (IPOB), was reportedly taken into custody by Finnish authorities on Thursday. Following his arrest, the Päijät-Häme district court issued an order for his imprisonment due to allegations of disseminating terrorist propaganda via social media. Reports indicate that the alleged incident occurred in 2021 within the Lahti municipality in Finland. The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed the arrest and noted that four additional individuals were also apprehended in relation to suspected terrorist activities.

Simon Ekpa, who identifies as a Finnish-Nigerian separatist and the self-declared Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, has been taken into custody in Finland along with four other individuals facing accusations of terrorism-related crimes.

Reports from local sources indicate that Ekpa is being held by the Päijät-Häme District Court on charges related to inciting the public to commit a crime with terrorist intent. On Thursday, November 21, the Finnish Central Criminal Police issued a statement confirming the arrest of five suspects involved in terrorist activities. Authorities allege that Ekpa is the primary suspect, detained for "public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent," while the other four individuals are accused of "financing a terrorist crime." In their announcement, the police indicated that allegations would be presented in the Päijät-Häme district court on the same day. The investigation focuses on a Finnish citizen of Nigerian descent, born in the 1980s, who is suspected of promoting activities from Finland that have reportedly incited violence against both civilians and state officials, in addition to other offenses occurring in the southeastern region of Nigeria.

Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen, who oversees the investigation, noted: "The individual has engaged in these activities primarily through social media platforms."

The other four suspects are believed to have financially supported the activities currently under scrutiny. "All five suspects were apprehended earlier this week," the statement confirmed, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in the initial stages of this investigation.
